Materials in, as well as waste out
Bulk bags collected from your merchant and delivered to the job
You buy the gravel, sand, hardcore or cement from whichever supplier you like. We pick it up and bring it to you, from £60 a bulk bag, around Chester, Ellesmere Port, Frodsham, Mold, Buckley and the Wirral. We are not a builders’ merchant: we do not stock or sell materials, we move them, on the same lorries that carry our skips. Ring 07951 238851 with the merchant, the postcode and the number of bags, and we confirm the price and the day in the same call.
What we will collect for you
Anything that comes in a bulk bag and is safe to lift. The grade, the quality and the price of the material are between you and your merchant; the run is ours.
Gravel and stone
Drives, paths, borders and soakaways. Order the grade your job needs from your merchant and we bring it to you.
Sand
Building sand for mortar, sharp sand for screeds and block paving. Two different bags, so tell the merchant which one you are after.
Hardcore and MOT Type 1
Sub-base under patios, sheds and drives. If the job specifies Type 1 to a grade, that is a question for the merchant, not for us.
Cement
Usually bought in 25 kg bags rather than a tonne bag. If you want cement bringing with the rest, say how many bags when you ring.
The price: from £60 a bag for the run, no VAT added
What you pay us is for collecting and delivering, not for the material. It starts at £60 a bulk bag and moves with the distance to the merchant, the number of bags and where the job is, so we confirm it on the phone rather than printing a number here that turns out wrong for your run. As with our skips, the price we give you is the price you pay: we are not VAT registered, so nothing is added at the end. The material is on your merchant’s invoice, not ours.
Delivered to the job
We drop the bag on the drive or as close to the work as access allows, the same way we place a skip. Tell us the postcode and we confirm the day when we ring back.
Already have it somewhere?
If the bags are sitting at a merchant, at another site or at a relative’s house, we will move them for you. The yard at Bankfield Farm, Mickle Trafford is our base, not a shop, so there is nothing to collect from us.
How it works
Order the material yourself
Ring your builders' merchant or yard, buy the bags you want, and pay them. You choose the supplier, the grade and the price, and you get their receipt.
Tell us where to collect and drop
Pick "Materials collected and delivered" on the booking form, or ring 07951 238851. We need the merchant, the postcode it is going to, and how many bags.
We collect and deliver, you pay us for the run
From £60 a bulk bag for the collection and delivery, confirmed on the phone before we set off. Pay on delivery, as with a skip.
Digging out and bringing in
Most landscaping jobs run both ways: old soil and paving out, new hardcore and sand in. We do both. The soil and rubble go in our inert 1 tonne bag or 2 yard skip, which have their own lower prices, and the new material comes from your merchant on the same run where the timing works. Ask when you book and we will tell you.
Questions about collection and delivery
Do you sell gravel, sand or hardcore?
No. We are not a builders' merchant and we do not stock or sell materials. You buy them from the supplier you choose, and we collect them and deliver them to your job.
What does the collection and delivery cost?
From £60 for a bulk bag. The figure depends on how far the merchant is, how many bags there are and where they are going, so we confirm it on the phone before anything is booked. The material itself you pay your merchant for.
Is a bulk bag the same as a dumpy bag or a jumbo bag?
Yes. They are all names for the same woven sack, about 90 cm square, holding roughly a tonne depending on the material and how wet it is. Merchants tend to say bulk bag, builders say dumpy or jumbo.
Which merchants do you collect from?
Any of them, within reach of Mickle Trafford. Tell us who you have ordered from and where the job is, and we will say what the run costs and when we can do it.
Can you take my old soil away and bring the new hardcore in?
Yes, and it is the common one on landscaping jobs. Book an inert 1 tonne bag (£60) or an inert 2 yard skip (£90) for the soil and rubble, tell us where the new material is coming from, and we will say whether both can go on the same run.
Bought the bags? We will bring them.
Tell us the merchant, the postcode and how many bags, and we will give you the price for the run and the first day we can do it.
